Today a pull request to r\Ruby on Rails was opened. In short, it added a few methods that allowed an alternative use of Array#include? I happened to notice that Jose Valim commented on it in my Github news feed, so I checked it out. I weighed in as I questioned the necessity for the…

If you want to be an entrepreneur, working at an investment bank or consulting firm for a while is pointless. Be an entrepreneur starting now. Pick that domain that turns you on the most – start at a high level (e.g. software, Internet, clean tech) but then pick a thing that you really care about and a set of problems you want to solve. If you aren’t technical, go find a technical co-founder right now – there are hundreds of them on this campus. Get your ass out of your chair and just get started.

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,

Amazing Food Processor Pesto Recipe

Amazing Food Processor Pesto Recipe:

  • One bunch of clean, washed Basil leaves.
  • Add Olive Oil and blend until a dark green slurry.
  • Add a cup or so of 1/2 - 1/4 inch chunks of parmesan cheese
  • Add 1/2 cup (or more depending on taste) of pine nuts.

Continue to blend until everything is chopped up good and the consistency is what you want.

I’ve kept the amounts vague because that’s how I do it. I honestly don’t know the amounts — I just add things depending on how much I have and until I like the look/taste.

Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. That, more or less, is the short answer to the supposedly incredibly complicated and confusing question of what we humans should eat in order to be maximally healthy. I hate to give away the game right here at the beginning of a long essay, and I confess that I’m tempted to complicate matters in the interest of keeping things going for a few thousand more words.

A great, well-written article on writing custom rake tasks.
